Our Transparency: We have maintained timely and transparent monitoring, reporting, and open communication with the City of Alexandria, County of Fairfax and the community.

How We Operate
We believe in doing things the Right Way at the Right Time. For more than a year, our team has communicated with neighbors and stakeholders to develop a plan that adds a needed asphalt facility in northern Virginia.
Our Plan includes:
Alignment with the County Comprehensive Plan for heavy industrial development.
Producing asphalt locally, which reduces the cost and environmental impact of trucking asphalt into the community from distant locations.
Site improvements and modifications to improve the entry/exit points at the facility.
We are actively sharing the plan with our stakeholders, listening to feedback, and answering questions to incorporate into a final plan that would be considered by Fairfax County.
Our Experience with Asphalt
Vulcan operates 70 asphalt facilities nationwide. This production in local markets is important because 95 percent of the roads in America are paved with asphalt. Asphalt production fits into our core business as more than 90% of asphalt by weight includes aggregate material.
While some of our asphalt plants are within hundreds of feet of nearby homes and businesses, the proposed location at Edsall Road is more than 1,000 feet from the nearest residence.
Committed to Our Community
We believe strong communities are built on the actions of individuals and collective efforts. Our team is proud to support educational and social causes by volunteering time, talent, and resources.
Our Commitment:
Prioritizing a safe work culture by recruiting and hiring individuals who share our commitment to safety.
Supporting and strengthening the community by supporting non-profits and community focused organizations.
What we do is quite simple. But it must be done The Right Way.
